The Anonymous Testing Process

There are two simple methods for gene testing. For more information on either testing option, please call our office at (925) 736-8510.

  1. Testing via blood. This is a simple blood draw, fasting is not necessary.
  2. Testing via cheek swab. Samples are taken from the cells on the inside of the cheek—a simple procedure you can do at home with instructions and materials provided in the APOE Gene Testing Kit. (Kit included in program cost, available on request from our office).

Options for Testing Completion

In order to make testing as convenient as possible, we offer two ways to complete your testing.

  1. Testing within the Northern California area. You can be tested at an APOE Gene Seminar or at our Practice in Danville, CA. Typically results are returned to you within seven business days. Call us at (925) 736-8510 to begin your APOE Gene testing process.
  2. Testing outside of Northern California. You can be tested in your own home state. Call us at (925) 736-8510 to request your APOE Gene Test Kit. Kits must be requested by phone. The Test Kit will be mailed to you within two business days. The procedure then depends on whether or not we have a provider in your state (see below). Please allow five weeks for results.

Testing with a Local Provider

If you live in a location with a local provider (see below), you can perform your own cheek swab (provided) in your test kit. This is a simple procedure you can do in your own home. All instructions are included in the Kit. While a medical provider* is not needed to do the cheek swab, you will need a provider to sign the form that is sent to the Lab with your swab sample. The address to send the swab sample to is included in the Kit. The results will be sent to us within 2 to 5 weeks. We will notify you within 24 hours.

We currently have providers in the following locations (more to come):

Your local provider’s contact information (where available) will be provided to you in your Welcome Kit.

Testing Without a Local Provider

In states or countries not listed, you will need to take a Kit to your local provider*, or bring it to a seminar. Your medical provider must sign an order form (enclosed in Kit) requesting the test.

*Provider can be licensed:

Your provider can do a simple blood draw, and send the blood to the Lab, or you can do a cheek swab yourself at home (instructions included in the Kit), and send the sample to the Lab yourself (address in Kit). Either way your provider needs to sign the order form that is sent to the Lab with your blood sample or cheek swab, and the results will be sent to your provider.

Allow 2-to-5 weeks for the results to be returned from the Lab.

We are rapidly expanding our listing of trained providers. You will be told when you call to request your Kit, if we now have a provider in your state.
